How to Enable Shutdown Confirmation on Xiaomi

Hyperos Shutdown Confirmation Features

This year, Xiaomi has put a lot of effort into enhancing user privacy and security in its new HyperOS operating system. I’ve written about many new hidden features in this update, but some of them are still underrated, like “Shutdown Confirmation.” So, what is it, how does it work, and why should you use this feature on your smartphone? I’ll cover all of this in this post. So, let’s get started.

What is Shutdown Confirmation on Xiaomi

Shutdown Confirmation” is a new security feature that protects your phone from being powered off. When you try to switch off your smartphone, either intentionally or accidentally, you’ll need to enter your lock screen password to restart or power off your device.

This feature is very useful, especially if you lose your phone and someone tries to switch it off. With the new HyperOS update, it’s not possible to power off your device without entering the password. This feature adds an extra layer of security to your smartphone.

How to Enable Shutdown Confirmation

To use this feature, your device must be running on the latest HyperOS Stable or Beta updates. Here are the steps to enable it:

  • Open the Settings app on your phone.
  • Go to the Privacy & Security section.
  • Tap on “Shutdown Confirmation” under device Security.
  • Finally, toggle on “Shutdown Confirmation.”

Once you enable this feature, you’ll need to enter your lock screen password every time you want to power off your device.

And that’s it! Now, if you lose your device, the Shutdown Confirmation feature will prevent it from being powered off by whoever finds it. If you can’t find this security feature on your phone, you might need to wait a bit for the next security patch update. You can also upgrade the Security App on your device, or check for the Android security update on your phone to get this feature.

Note: This feature only works if you have a lock screen pin or pattern enabled on your device. If not, it won’t work.
