I’m back with something really exciting today! We’re diving deep into both Xiaomi’s operating systems. Yes, you’ve guessed it right – we’re talking about the classic MIUI and the brand-new HyperOS!
I remember the days when the first MIUI came with the Xiaomi Mi 1 in August 2010. Fast forward to October 2023, and we’ve got the fresh and innovative HyperOS, making its debut with the Xiaomi 14.
In this post, I’m going to walk you through a detailed comparison of HyperOS vs MIUI. We’ll talk about all the cool stuff, the changes, and what makes each of them unique. So, buckle up, and let’s get started!
Lock Screen
First things first, let’s talk about the lock screen. The new OS comes with very unique and fully customizable Lock Screen. You can play around with the font styles, and clock format, add some depth effect to your wallpaper, and even add some filters. It’s all about making your phone look as cool as possible. On the other hand, MIUI’s lock screen is very boring and simple.
Control Center
Next up, we’ve got the control center and the media player. Both MIUI and HyperOS Control Center have similar vibes when it comes to this, but the new OS has some sleek design tweaks, smooth animations, and a style that just feels fresh.
Wallpaper & Personalization
Now, let’s talk about wallpapers and personalizing your phone. It introduces a new section where you can easily switch up your Always-On Display styles, pick new icons for your home screen, and even change the font straight from the settings app. With MIUI, you’d need to Xiaomi Theme Store to do all of this.
File Manager
File Manager – a crucial part of any smartphone, right? With the new Xiaomi OS, navigating through your files is very easy due to the pre-defined tabs. Comparing HyperOS and MIUI, the File Manager has seen some subtle changes in the user interface, but the functionality is pretty much the same.
Gallery
Onto the Gallery app. It has an iOS vibe to it, with suggestions popping up and creating memories from your photos. While the MIUI gallery app has its charm, the new version in Hyper OS brings in a fresh user interface, a location map on your photos, and some cool new bokeh effects.
Camera
The camera app in HyperOS? It’s a whole new design. The layout has been revamped, and it looks stunning, especially when you compare it to the MIUI version. I’ve got to admit, that the MIUI camera app layout never really did it for me, but this OS has truly brought a revolution.
Battery
Battery management is crucial, and Xiaomi has may copy from Apple’s new iPhone. When Apple announced the iPhone 15 and introduced the ability to count battery cycles? Well, now that’s something you can do on any Xiaomi device running HyperOS 1.0 and above. Just head to the security battery section, and you’re all set.
Weather
For all you weather app enthusiasts, the new update has transformed the forecasting experience. The visuals are stunning, and it’s just so easy and fun to use.
About
Now, this might seem like a small thing, but it makes a big difference. The “About Phone” section in the new operating system has been given a major facelift. It’s got a premium look and feel to it now.
Charging Animation
And for those of you who love the charging animation in HyperOS is something else! When you plug in your device, the screen comes alive with vibrant colors, smooth animations, haptic feedback, and new sound effects. And yes, you can even customize the color of the charging animation right from the settings. MIUI does offer a variety of themes to change up the lock screen charging animation, but this new update just takes it to a whole new level.
Privacy
Last but definitely not least, let’s talk about privacy. Xiaomi has really stepped up its game here, giving you all the tools you need to manage your personal information. You can see which apps have accessed your location, camera, and more in the past 7 days, and even check the full history of all app activity. If something doesn’t look right, you can block it right there and then.
So there you have it, a full rundown of HyperOS vs MIUI. Both have their own unique features, but it’s clear that HyperOS is bringing something new and exciting to the table. Now, I’m really curious to know your thoughts. Which one do you think comes out on top? Drop a comment below and let’s chat about it!
